Looking for a new 2015 adventure? Add the TransRockies Run to your bucket list! Over the course of six days in August, runners from all over the world will run, eat and live together as they cover 120 miles of spectacular scenery in the Rocky Mountains. Operations guru Kevin McDonald will be here to share footage of the race and talk about why you should sign up. Right now.

If you’re thinking, “I can’t do this, I’ve never done any trail running,” STOP! We’ve got that covered too. We’ve pulled together a great panel of previous participants and trail running experts to talk about how you can get into trail running and prepare yourself for an adventure like the TransRockies Run.

Kevin “Houda” McDonald is entering his eighth summer as the Director of Operations for TransRockies Inc. A former hockey/lacrosse player, he previously worked at the Olympic Games in Atlanta and Sydney. An endurance athlete himself, he’s completed two marathons, one Ironman (Arizona, 2013) and is looking to race in the 6-day TransAndes Challenge in Chile next year.

KC Cohen had a big birthday coming up in 2014, and after running 19 marathons and numerous other road races of shorter distances, she was looking for a real challenge. Friends encouraged her to sign up for the TransRockies Run despite having limited trail running experience. She completed the RUN6 – and had a life-changing experience. When she isn’t running, KC is a Middle and Upper School Counselor, Health Teacher and Director of Community and Diversity.

Iwan Axt has coached numerous trail running and ultra groups over the years, including the North Face Running team, TriLife and Team in Training’s inaugural trail running team. He has completed several trail races himself, the most “extreme” race being the Marathon Des Sables, a grueling multi-stage adventure through the Sahara Desert.
