TEACH YOUR BODY HOW TO ACCEPT THE IMPACT OF RUNNING
Our Return to Running Postpartum Workshop will be comprised of an educational piece on the bodily changes women undergo during both pregnancy and delivery as well as a guided exercise portion designed to get you back into running as safely and strongly as possible.
E D U C A T I O N
- What are the true demands of running and what does that mean for you postpartum
- requires the body to respond to gravity; pulls joints at 4-8x your body weigh
- muscles must be both explosive and able to control high amount of torsion
- running outdoors requires your body to respond smoothly to your environment
- How has your body possibly changed during pregnancy and/or delivery
- pregnancy – possible overlengthening of abdominal wall & shortened hip flexors
- delivery – potential trauma to pelvic floor musculature or abdominal wall
- increased elastin hormone running through your body, loosening ligaments
