Armory Adds Finish Line Physical Therapy Recovery Room

The Finish Line Physical Therapy team will bring their expertise to the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory to further enhance world class facility.

NEW YORK, August 18, 2016 – The Armory is excited to announce a new partnership with Finish Line Physical Therapy to bring expert prehabilitation, rehabilitation and recovery support to the thousands of athletes who practice and compete at the facility each year.

The partnership culminates with the addition of the Finish Line PT Recovery Room, which will be located outside the homestretch of The Armory oval from the start of the 2016-17 indoor season. There, athletes will be welcome to free physical therapy treatment, have access to top-of-the-line recovery tools and receive information on effective strategies for injury prevention, self-maintenance, performance enhancement and recovery from some of New York’s best physical therapists.

“Track and field athletes are becoming increasingly knowledgeable about body mechanics and injury prevention and treatment,” remarked Dr. Norbert Sander, President of the Armory Foundation. “Having convenient and complimentary access to the specialized knowledge and assistance that Finish Line PT can provide should be invaluable to a wide range of athletes who enjoy the Armory.”

Established in 2006, Finish Line PT has a team of 12 physical therapists and one massage therapist – all of which are actively involved in the New York City endurance community. The organization’s specialty is in working with runners and endurance athletes of all levels and their philosophy is based on evaluating a person’s natural movement patterns to discover the source of an injury as opposed to treating symptoms.

“We have long admired the central role The Armory has played in creating a venue for world-class indoor track and field, and we are honored to contribute our expertise in making The Armory a full-service venue for athletes of all ages and abilities,” said Michael Conlon, Physical Therapist and owner of Finish Line PT.

“Finish Line is dedicated to building a community and helping athletes reach their individual finish lines. We look forward to extending this commitment in supporting The Armory and the programs the foundation has established to serve youth and promote fitness and education.”

Finish Line PT currently maintains three Manhattan offices located at 23rd and 6th Avenue (Chelsea), 57th and 3rd Avenue (Upper East Side) and 72nd and Amsterdam (Upper West Side).
