Gerard Connelly
Patient Representative, Administration + Resident Photographer

One of several members of the FLPT Staff hailing from Long Island, Gerard joined the front desk staff in the Summer of 2021, fresh off a first place finish (open division) in the Brooklyn Mile just one week prior to his first day at Finish Line!!

Gerard has so far found an endless source of knowledge, inspiration and shared passion for running from staff and patients, immediately noticing out wonderful patients’ dedication to their goals and willingness to learn.

Our favorite fun fact about Gerard: he raced Motocross growing up. It’s an endurance sport just like marathon running, except it requires a lot more upper body strength to handle a heavy bike on a rough track, and races usually last about 20 minutes. Speaking of marathon running, Gerard is new to the distance but has some big aggressive goals planned for the future, eventually hoping to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Trials marathon.

What I Like:

  • About running: Racing is the purest form of competition and it favors the most prepared, especially in the sport of long distance running. The only way to prepare is to work hard, and through hard work comes discipline, satisfaction, and a healthier lifestyle. And my favorite part is that the hard work forces the community to rely and depend on one another to encourage and push each other to be their very best.
  • An innovation of the past few years: Strava! (and social media’s coverage of sports in general) allows for cool athletes and things like Trials of Miles to grow. Grow the sport!
