Jimmy Williams
PHYSICAL THERAPIST

Jimmy completed his undergraduate education with a degree in exercise science at Florida State University then went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Rutgers University. Prior to moving up North, he was a running and triathlon coach in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he coached athletes of all ages and skill levels.

One of our resident triathletes here at FLPT, Jimmy has been a fitness enthusiast since high school, when he learned the importance of strength and mobility training to prevent injury. As a kid, he dreamt of becoming an offensive lineman in the NFL, but didn’t quite fit the size category, fortunately for us! Still, he played football throughout high school until suffering from a concussion which led him to switch gears to cross country running, which took him on quite a different path. In college, his former track coach dared him to race him at collegiate nationals for triathlon and he ended up loving it, going on to participate in the club sport for all 4 years at FSU.

It is a dream come true for Jimmy now that he is able to specialize in helping runners and endurance athletes in the FLPT Community and he’s excited to learn through his experiences here.

The Skinny

  • Hometown: Dunedin, FL
  • College: Florida State University
  • My teams: Champa Bay all day (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rays & Lightning) & Florida State Seminoles
  • Best way to stay active: Run, of course.
  • Favorite Place/City in the world: Barcelona, Spain

What I Like:

  • About FLPT patients: The patients are educated about their conditions, eager to learn how to fix and get back to their normal activities. I’ve never worked with patients with such motivation to get better.
  • About triathlon: I never had to be the fastest at any one part, just had to be incredibly average at 3 sports and ended up winning a few races here & there. Also nice to mix training up with 3 sports rather than simply running 7 days of the week.
